Smart Performance Coaching – Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to services purchased from Smart Performance Coaching (“SPC”, “we”, “us” or “our”), including training plans, SPC Plan+, coaching services, Strength & Conditioning, the SPC Performance Nutrition System, SPC Club membership and associated services.

By purchasing, subscribing to or using an SPC service, you agree to these Terms & Conditions together with any service-specific information shown on the relevant product page, checkout page or onboarding documentation.

1. Our Services

SPC provides endurance coaching, training plans, strength and conditioning, performance nutrition support, club membership and associated training services.

Different levels of service provide different levels of coach involvement. Purchasing access to a training plan or subscription does not automatically include individual coaching unless this is specifically stated.

Your exact package and price will be those displayed when you purchase or subscribe.

2. Standalone SPC Training Plans

Standalone training plans are purchased as individual products.

Plans may include running, cycling, swimming, triathlon, strength and conditioning, mobility or other endurance-related programmes.

Where a plan is delivered through TrainingPeaks, you may be required to create or maintain a TrainingPeaks account and provide SPC with the access required to apply the plan.

SPC training plans are designed around the level, duration and purpose described on the relevant product page. They are not individually bespoke unless specifically stated.

Purchasing a standalone plan does not include ongoing coaching, regular coach feedback, unlimited plan changes or ongoing programme management unless these services are expressly included in the product purchased.

3. SPC Plan+

SPC Plan+ is our rolling training-plan subscription.

Plan+ is designed to provide ongoing access to SPC training plans throughout the year, allowing your training to move from winter/base training through preparation, build phases and race-specific training without having to purchase a completely new training plan each time.

What Plan+ Includes

Plan+ currently costs £14.99 per month, unless a different price is displayed when you subscribe.

An active Plan+ member may have:

  • one main SPC training plan active at any one time; and

  • applicable SPC Strength & Conditioning and/or mobility plans running alongside the main plan where required.

Plan+ does not allow multiple main endurance plans to be stacked or run simultaneously unless SPC specifically agrees this is appropriate.

Examples of a main plan include a running, cycling, triathlon, race preparation or other principal endurance programme.

Requesting a Training Plan

Plan+ members request their next training plan through the SPC Training Plan Request Form, available in the More section of the SPC website.

This allows you to tell us which plan you require and provide the information needed for us to apply it correctly.

Requests sent through other channels may be redirected to the Training Plan Request Form so that we have an accurate record of your request.

Please allow a reasonable period for requested plan changes to be processed.

TrainingPeaks

Plan+ members using TrainingPeaks must:

  1. maintain a valid TrainingPeaks account;

  2. add or connect Smart Performance Coaching as required; and

  3. maintain the permissions required for SPC to add, remove or manage SPC training plans.

If SPC does not have the necessary TrainingPeaks access, we may be unable to apply or change your plan.

Changing Plans

You may request a different main plan when your training objective changes.

For example, you may move from winter/base training into a race-specific programme or from one race goal to another.

Where a new main plan is applied, SPC may remove, replace or amend the previous main plan to avoid conflicting training programmes.

Plan+ is intended to provide sensible progression through the SPC plan library. It is not intended to provide unlimited bespoke programme design or repeated short-notice changes.

SPC may advise against a requested plan where we believe it is inappropriate for your current training, fitness, health, available preparation time or event.

Plan Reviews

SPC will periodically review Plan+ programmes and our training-plan library, normally around every 6–8 weeks, so plans can be updated as our coaching methods and training guidance develop.

This does not mean that every individual Plan+ member receives a personalised coaching review every 6–8 weeks.

Plan+ remains a training-plan subscription and is not an individual coaching service.

Athletes requiring regular individual analysis, feedback, programme adjustment and coach communication should use an SPC Coaching package.

4. SPC Coaching

SPC Coaching provides a greater level of individual coach involvement than standalone plans or Plan+.

Our current Coaching structure is:

Zone 0 – Accountability

Accountability support without the level of ongoing coaching provided within the higher Coaching Zones.

Zone 1 – Basic Coaching

SPC's core individual coaching service.

Zone 2 – Coaching + Strength & Conditioning

Includes the Zone 1 coaching service together with SPC Strength & Conditioning.

Zone 3 – Coaching + Performance Nutrition

Includes the Zone 1 coaching service together with access to the SPC Performance Nutrition System.

Zone 3 also includes TrainingPeaks Premium while the qualifying SPC coaching subscription remains active.

Zone 4 – Complete Coaching Package

Includes:

  • Zone 1 coaching;

  • SPC Strength & Conditioning;

  • SPC Performance Nutrition System; and

  • TrainingPeaks Premium.

The exact features, communication levels, reviews and services included within each Coaching Zone are those shown on the SPC website or provided during onboarding.

Services included within a Coaching Zone cannot normally be exchanged for cash or an alternative service.

5. TrainingPeaks

SPC uses TrainingPeaks for the delivery and management of many training programmes.

Where required, you are responsible for creating and maintaining your TrainingPeaks account and ensuring SPC has the access necessary to provide your service.

SPC is not responsible for outages, technical faults, account problems, data loss or changes made by TrainingPeaks to its platform or services.

Where TrainingPeaks Premium is provided as part of an SPC package, it is included only while the relevant qualifying SPC subscription remains active.

If you cancel or move to a service which does not include TrainingPeaks Premium, SPC-funded Premium access may be removed or allowed to expire.

Your TrainingPeaks account itself remains your account.

6. Strength & Conditioning

Strength & Conditioning may be purchased separately or included within an eligible SPC package.

You are responsible for ensuring that you have sufficient space, equipment and appropriate conditions to perform a prescribed session safely.

Exercise demonstrations, descriptions and programmes cannot take account of every individual's medical history, injury history or physical limitations.

You must stop an exercise or session if you experience pain, dizziness, unusual shortness of breath or another concerning symptom and seek appropriate professional advice where required.

7. SPC Performance Nutrition System

The SPC Performance Nutrition System provides performance-focussed nutrition guidance and tools to support training, fuelling, hydration, recovery and general sporting performance.

It does not provide medical diagnosis or medical nutrition therapy and is not a substitute for advice from a doctor, registered dietitian or other appropriately qualified healthcare professional where this is required.

You are responsible for providing accurate information about your body weight, training, activity, goals, dietary requirements, allergies and other information used by the system.

Nutrition and fuelling calculations are estimates and may need to be adjusted according to individual response, environmental conditions, training demands and practical circumstances.

Where food recognition, artificial intelligence or automated calculations are used, you should review entries and values for accuracy rather than assuming that automatically generated information is correct.

You remain responsible for checking ingredients and allergen information for any food or product you consume.

8. SPC Club Membership

SPC Club membership is currently available for £29 per year, unless otherwise stated at the point of purchase.

Club membership is separate from Plan+, individual coaching and other paid services unless specifically included within a package.

Membership benefits are those advertised by SPC at the time and may evolve as the club develops.

Reasonable changes may be made to club activities, member benefits, locations and schedules where necessary.

9. Payments and Subscriptions

Prices are shown on the SPC website or during the purchase process.

One-off products must be paid for at the price displayed at checkout.

Subscription services such as Plan+ and eligible Coaching packages will continue and payment will be taken at the agreed billing interval until cancelled, unless the product is expressly sold for a fixed term.

You are responsible for keeping your payment information up to date.

If payment fails, SPC may suspend access to the relevant service while payment remains outstanding.

We may change subscription prices in the future. Existing subscribers will be given reasonable notice before a new price applies to their subscription.

10. Cancelling a Rolling Subscription

Unless a minimum term has been expressly stated when you purchase, monthly SPC subscriptions may be cancelled.

Cancellation stops future subscription renewals. Access will normally continue until the end of the period already paid for unless otherwise stated.

Cancelling a subscription does not automatically create an entitlement to a refund for a period of service that has already been supplied.

Nothing in these Terms affects any cancellation, refund or other rights you have under applicable consumer law.

Where reasonably possible, subscriptions should be cancelled using the cancellation method provided through the relevant account, payment provider or by contacting SPC.

11. Online Purchases and Cooling-Off Rights

Where applicable, consumers purchasing online may have a statutory cancellation period.

If you ask SPC to begin providing a service during a statutory cancellation period, you are requesting that performance of the service starts before that period has expired.

Where the law allows, you may be required to pay for the proportion of a service already supplied if you subsequently exercise a statutory cancellation right.

Different rules may apply where digital content has been supplied immediately and you have expressly agreed to its immediate supply and acknowledged the effect this has on your cancellation rights.

Nothing in these Terms removes or restricts your statutory consumer rights.

12. Pausing Services

Training and coaching subscriptions are not automatically paused because of holidays, work commitments, temporary loss of motivation or missed training.

Where injury, illness, surgery, pregnancy or exceptional circumstances prevent participation, contact SPC as soon as reasonably possible.

Any pause, credit or alteration agreed by SPC will depend on the circumstances and the service concerned.

13. Athlete Responsibilities

To get the most from an SPC service, you are expected to provide accurate information and use reasonable judgement when completing training.

You are responsible for:

  • informing SPC of relevant injuries, illnesses or significant changes affecting your ability to train;

  • completing only training that you are physically capable of undertaking;

  • using appropriate equipment;

  • choosing safe training environments and routes;

  • following applicable road, pool, gym, event and facility rules;

  • checking weather and environmental conditions;

  • maintaining appropriate hydration and nutrition;

  • providing accurate training feedback where coaching is being provided; and

  • seeking medical or other professional advice when appropriate.

A training session should never override your judgement about your immediate safety.

14. Illness, Injury and Medical Advice

Participation in endurance sport and physical training carries inherent risks.

SPC coaches cannot diagnose medical conditions or injuries unless they are separately appropriately qualified to do so.

Where we believe that continuing to train may be inappropriate, we may recommend that training is reduced or stopped until suitable medical or healthcare advice has been obtained.

You should inform SPC if a healthcare professional advises you to restrict or stop training.

15. Events and Race Outcomes

SPC cannot guarantee a particular race time, placing, qualification, weight, fitness improvement or performance outcome.

Sporting performance is affected by many factors outside SPC's control, including training consistency, illness, injury, weather, event conditions, nutrition, sleep, equipment and individual physiological response.

Targets are therefore goals rather than guarantees.

16. Communication and Coach Availability

Coach communication applies only where it forms part of the service purchased.

Plan+, standalone plans, Club membership, S&C plans or Performance Nutrition access do not automatically include unlimited individual coach communication.

Coaches may be unavailable at times because of annual leave, illness, racing, training camps or other commitments. Where appropriate, SPC may arrange suitable cover or communicate alternative arrangements.

SPC does not provide a 24-hour emergency or medical support service.

17. Changes to Training

Training programmes are guidance based on the information available to SPC at the time.

SPC may change, reduce, replace or remove sessions where we believe this is appropriate.

Where you independently add races, training, gym sessions or other significant physical activity, you should inform your coach where you are receiving individual coaching.

SPC cannot be responsible for the effect of undisclosed additional training or for programmes substantially altered without consultation.

18. Intellectual Property and Use of SPC Plans

SPC training plans, session descriptions, coaching materials, documents, calculators, nutrition systems and other original materials remain the intellectual property of SPC or their respective rights holders.

When you purchase a plan or subscription, you receive a personal right to use that material for your own training.

SPC material must not be copied, resold, distributed, published, uploaded to another training-plan marketplace, shared between athletes or used commercially without permission.

Subscription access does not transfer ownership of SPC content to the subscriber.

19. Third-Party Platforms and Services

SPC services may integrate with or rely upon third-party platforms including TrainingPeaks and other software or payment providers.

These platforms operate under their own terms, systems and privacy arrangements.

SPC cannot guarantee continuous availability of a third-party service and may alter the way a service is delivered if a third-party platform changes, removes or restricts functionality.

20. Suspension or Termination by SPC

SPC may suspend or terminate a service where there is a reasonable reason to do so, including:

  • persistent non-payment;

  • misuse or unauthorised distribution of SPC material;

  • abusive, threatening or inappropriate behaviour towards coaches, staff or other members;

  • deliberate misuse of an SPC platform or system; or

  • circumstances where continuing the coaching relationship is no longer reasonably workable.

Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and deal fairly with any payment made for a service that will no longer be supplied.

21. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

SPC is not responsible for losses caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Training recommendations are based upon the information supplied by you and the information reasonably available to the coach.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights.

22. Privacy and Personal Information

SPC processes personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

Because coaching may involve health, training, performance and nutrition information, you should only provide information relevant to the service being delivered.

Where third-party platforms are used, information may also be processed under the privacy policies of those providers.

23. Changes to These Terms

SPC may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to our services, technology, business practices or applicable requirements.

Where a change materially affects an existing paid subscription, we will provide reasonable notice where required.

The current version will be published on the SPC website.

24. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in England and Wales.

Nothing in this section removes any mandatory rights a consumer may have regarding where a dispute can be brought.

25. Contacting SPC

Questions about a purchase, subscription, cancellation or these Terms should be directed to Smart Performance Coaching using the contact details shown on:

By purchasing or subscribing to an SPC service, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.
