SPC Policies & Commitments
At Smart Performance Coaching (SPC), we believe coaching is about more than training plans and race results. It’s about building a community that is safe, inclusive, and responsible — for our athletes, our environment, and the future of sport.
This page brings together our key policies and commitments, so you know exactly what SPC stands for.
Equality & Diversity Policy
At Smart Performance Coaching (SPC), we believe sport should be open to everyone. Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where all athletes, coaches, and members feel welcome, respected, and able to thrive.
Our Commitments
Equal Opportunities – Everyone has the same chance to take part, progress, and succeed.
Inclusive Culture – We celebrate individuality and encourage our community to be themselves.
Zero Tolerance – Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or unfair treatment will never be accepted at SPC.
Accessibility – We aim to make coaching, sessions, and resources adaptable and available to people of all abilities.
Continuous Growth – We review our practices regularly and welcome feedback to help us improve.
“Diversity makes us stronger — in training, in racing, and in life.”
Safeguarding Policy
At SPC, the welfare of every athlete is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a safe, positive, and supportive environment for all, especially young people and vulnerable adults.
Our Safeguarding Commitments
Safe Environment – All training sessions, events, and camps are designed to be safe, inclusive, and supportive.
Protecting Athletes – We have a zero-tolerance approach to abuse, neglect, or exploitation of any kind.
Checks & Training – Coaches and staff follow safeguarding guidance and hold relevant checks (such as DBS where required).
Clear Communication – We use appropriate, respectful, and transparent communication in all coaching, both in person and online.
Reporting Concerns – Any safeguarding concern raised will be treated seriously, handled confidentially, and acted upon in line with best practice.
“Every athlete deserves to feel safe, supported, and respected. That’s non-negotiable.”
Environmental & Sustainability Statement
At SPC, we recognise the role sport plays in protecting our planet. Endurance athletes see first-hand the beauty of the outdoors, and we believe it’s our responsibility to look after it.
How We Keep It Green
Travel & Training – We encourage car-sharing, cycling, and public transport to sessions and events wherever possible.
Events & Camps – We minimise waste by reducing single-use plastics and promoting reusable bottles and kit.
Digital First – Where possible, we use digital resources instead of printed materials to cut down on unnecessary paper.
Kit & Equipment – We support sustainable choices by encouraging repair, reuse, and responsible recycling of kit.
Always Improving – We are committed to reviewing our practices and finding new ways to reduce our environmental impact.
“We coach for performance, but we also coach for a future where the environment thrives alongside the athletes.”
Community & Social Responsibility
Sport is about more than performance — it’s about people. At SPC, we’re proud to be part of our local and wider endurance community, and we believe in giving back.
Our Community Commitments
Supporting Beginners – We make endurance sport welcoming for those taking their very first steps, not just seasoned athletes.
Local Engagement – We work with local clubs, schools, and community groups to promote active, healthy lifestyles.
Charity & Fundraising – Where possible, SPC supports charity events and causes that matter to our athletes and community.
Inclusive Spirit – We champion a culture where everyone, regardless of ability or background, feels part of the SPC family.
Positive Impact – Beyond sport, we want SPC to leave a lasting, positive mark on the communities we serve.
“Coaching, nutrition, achievement — and community. They all go hand in hand.”
